Every movement is a confession.

A few days ago I came across a quote by french philosopher Paul Valéry, which triggered an interesting working hypothesis, something I want to keep in mind as I make dances: every movement is a confession.
I feel that whenever I make dances I expose something, often something intimate. I definitely expose my body and all that it reveals, I probably expose some part of my thinking process, who knows, maybe my aesthetical preferences, parts of my personality even. I believe that exposure to be part of what makes the dance appealing to witness, a window into somebody’s soul perhaps.

Now to make things more intriguing, Paul Valéry’s quote was the following:
“Every confession has an ulterior motive”.
